Food Festival music success

Re the music at the Belper Food Festival, December 4, 2011.

No festival is complete without music, and local acoustic musicians played their part on the Sunday, to entertain the audience at the Food Festival.

Ed Hulse, singer/guitarist, provided his portable sound system and backed up his fine singing with his usual first-class finger style guitar picking.

We had a powerful performance from Tom Makinson. Hugh Stewart and Alan Morley performed on bagpipes, bodhran, guitars and melodion.

Alan also performed traditional tunes with Chris Preston, and the day’s performances were brought to a conclusion by that wonderful vocalist, Keyna Larvin.

I wonder how many of the town’s people realised that all these musician played and provided their equipment free of charge.

I hope that we can make a bigger feature of music in future festivals, and move the stage to a more prominent position in King Street.
