Fundraising time at Heage Windmill

The repair work and restoration at Heage Windmill is well underway.

Sail painting by volunteers is now almost completed and the millwright is hard at it in his Lincolnshire workshop.

But it all needs paying for, so the fundraising continues.

The latest event was a book and cake morning held in the mill undercroft on Saturday.

Many people responded to the cry for help and a large number of books and almost as many homemade cakes were sold.

The event raised just a bit more than £390, all of which goes into the Trouble at Mill Appeal (TAMA).

The Grade II-listed building was restored to working order in 2002.

However, parts not included in the earlier work that now need repairing at a cost of around £90,000.

Plans are in hand for a musical evening by the BelCanto choir on April 15 at St Luke’s Church, Heage.
