the Ecclesbourne Valley Railway will host an exciting gala weekend to mark the re-opening of the Wirksworth-to-Duffield line.
The action-packed weekend on Saturday, April 9 and Sunday, April 10 will follow the re-opening of the link on Friday, April 8.
The gala will feature a British Railways locomotive, number 78019, and the railway’s rake of vintage carriages, including a freshly-restored former London Midland and Scottish Railway vehicle that has been under restoration at Wirksworth since 2008. Also on display will be vintage diesel locomotives and railcars. Tickets for the re-opening train will go on sale early next month.
