an elderly couple’s garden in Allestree, which was destroyed by a crooked builder, has been transformed by a generous group of youngsters.
A team of 11 from the Prince’s Trust cleared weeds and rubble and created a rockery.
The couple, in their 80s, were swindled out of thousands of pounds by the builder, who had promised them a sparkling back garden.
But he never finished the work after digging up the couple’s lawn and flowerbeds and chopping down a tree, and instead left the garden full of rubble and weeds.
Now, the back garden is free of weeds thanks to plastic that has been laid down, and the front is home to an attractive rockery.
