Give views on gritting

THE views of Belper residents are wanted on proposed changes to the way Derbyshire County Council grits its road in winter.

This year, following some particularly harsh winters, the county council wants to split gritting into two categories — primary and secondary.

The authority hopes it will make gritting roads easier to manage, help prevent overspending of the gritting budget, clear snow from more roads, and make better use of staff and equipment.

Last year the county council spent £4.5 million on gritting and clearing snow from the roads.

Residents can fill in a questionnaire at or get one from Belper Library on Bridge Street.
