Golden Scouts


NINE youngsters from Belper and District Scout groups are feeling rather golden.

For they been presented with their coveted Chief Scout Gold award by Sir Richard Fitzherbert, who is president of Derbyshire Scouts, at County Hall in Matlock.

The award is the highest accolade available in the Scouting section and is attained by completing eight challenges, including fitness, global, adventure and a two-day expedition.

Rob Morley, of the Belper and District Scout Council, said: “Congratulation to Trent Pickering, Edward Green, Charlotte Holloway and Bevan Cope, of 1st Alton Manor Scouts, and to Chloe Wragg, Bethan Wasley, Tom Pratt, Niamh O’Connor and Ross Colledge, of 1st Openwoodgate Scouts.”

The event was also attended by the Lord Lieutenant of Derbyshire Willie Tucker and the County Scout Commissioner Tom Stoddart.
