A United Nations drive to improve international health and living standards has inspired Belper Guides to stage an event at Denby Pottery.
During a day at the attraction’s visitor centre, the 2nd Belper unit, who have been learning about the Millenium Development Goals, spread the message that good hand washing can help stop the spread of diseases.
The task, which formed part of their Guides Challenge, was linked to two of the development goals which aim to reduce maternal and child deaths in poorer countries.
Guide Leader Donna Roberts said: “The event was a great success. We all really enjoyed the day and had lots of visitors who were very interested in what we were doing. They had a look at our display and asked the Guides lots of questions.”
