ELDERLY people in Derbyshire are set to benefit from a massive £200m investment in adult care from the county council.
The scheme – thought to be the first of its kind in the country – would bring ‘dementia-friendly’ care and offer state-of-the-art accommodation to within 10 miles of anyone in Derbyshire.
But it could see the replacement of some or all of the county’s local authority care homes with modern one- and two-bedroom apartments.
Concerns have been raised that the lives of some of the county’s most vulnerable elderly people would be turned upside down by the plans.
