A CHARITY is urging holidaymakers from Belper who have hearing loss to check out possible hotels before booking their break this year.

Action on Hearing Loss is targeting people who are booking ‘staycations’ in the UK.

The charity wants people with hearing loss to contact their accommodation in advance and check what steps they will take to meet communication needs. ‘Staycationers’ are advised to ask about a hearing loop in reception, procedures to alert deaf people of a fire alarm, or TVs with subtitles already set up.

Paul Breckell, of the charity, said: “We urge Belper residents with hearing loss to check accommodation is suitably accessible before making any reservations and exercise their right to get the same level of service as other guests.”
