With more people being online than ever before tips to stay safe have been issued by Derbsyhire Police.
The force’s digital PCSO Shevani Raichura has highlighted the dangers of cybercrime ranging from bullying, to digiatla stalking and identity theft.
She said: “Whether you are checking your emails on the go, updating your Facebook status, online banking or chatting to your friends on webcam, technology plays a big part in our everyday lives so it is important to stay safe.”
Now the schools have broken up more young people may have unsupervised access to a computer and could be experiencing bullying.
PSCO Raichura said: “If you’re being bullied online, always tell someone that you trust, such as a friend, your parents or an adult at school. Telling someone is often the first step in stopping it.”
Make sure social media accounts have strong privacy settings and if any offensive messages are sent keep a record with either the screen shot or print screen function.
