Housing plan rejected

A BID to build five new homes at Bullbridge Hill has been turned down.

J.R Melrose Building Contractors Ltd appealed against Amber Valley Borough Council’s decision to refuse permission for the detached houses - but the appeal has been dismissed by the inspector because the site is not within the built framework.

The applicant argued that Bullbridge and Fritchley should be regarded as a single settlement, but the council’s officer disagreed and said they are “clearly distinct places” which should be considered under two planning policies.

In a report, the inspector wrote: “In conclusion the appeal site is not an appropriate location for residential development and the proposal would run counter to relevant development plan policies.”
