A young actor from Ilkeston has landed a part in a major new film that stars Sasha Baron Cohen.
Nine-year-old Ryan Pickard, a pupil at Ockbrook School, plays the part of the Snookerball Kid in Grimsby, which has its world premier in Lesicester Square on Monday night. He was even driven there by the famous actor, best know for his role as Ali G.
Ryane has been signed by acting agency Bonnie and Betty in London since December 2013. He has also worked on Dad’s Army, where he was a young scamp, and is seen at the start of the film speaking to Danny Mays and Emily Atack. He got these jobs through his agent. In his early days in the industry, he worked as a background artist on Suffragette, and as a body double on Get Santa.
Ryan has also been in a couple of online campaigns for E.on and Robinsons.
In Grimsby his character is Snookerball Kid and he is the leader of a gang of kids. His weapon of choice is a snooker ball, which he uses to foil the enemies in the film.
His mum Debbie said: “Going to the premier was such an amazing experience. We were left overwhelmed and speechless.”
