THE Jog Derbyshire 5k takes place this Sunday (September 4) at Shipley Country Park.
Derbyshire Paralympian and London 2012 hopeful Leon Taylor will start the race, and as part of the event there will be a number of sporting activities and demonstrations including blind football, boccia, sitting volleyball and cricket, following on from the event being granted the Inspire mark by the London 2012 Inspire programme.
The 5k is open to all and is particularly aimed at those who are new or returning to running, and those who are looking to take part in their first organised race or are looking for a new challenge after taking part in an event such as Race for Life.
Entrants can walk, jog or run the 5k, which is a scenic off-road route which follows tracks and trails around Shipley Country Park.
This year’s event will also incorporate the Active Derbyshire Workplace Challenge, which is open to work-based teams of four.
The 5k will start at 10.30am on Sunday and will be chip-timed, with a memento for all finishers.
Entries cost £5 for Jog Derbyshire Dynamos club members, and £6 for other individuals.
Workplace team entry is £25 per team.
