Leisure plan delay

PLANS to discuss the proposed new £11.5 million leisure centre in Belper at a meeting of Amber Valley Borough Council were pulled at the 11th hour.

A report was due to go before the full council on Wednesday, September 28, on the controversial plan for a centre on Field Lane in the town. But a council spokesman said: “The report had not been finalised.”

It will be heard at the council meeting on November 2.

In last week’s Belper News, we reported that two proposals to revamp Belper’s existing leisure centre had been dismissed by the council.

Neil Malenoir, manager of the centre, has asked us to point out that the proposals have not yet gone before the council.
