THE winner of the Specsavers Life Thru the Lens competition has finally been named.
He is Keith Bird , who aptly captured a shot of seagulls flying in the Belper’s River Gardens during the snow against the back drop of a clear blue sky.
In second was Dave Buttery, who took a close up shot of the town’s mill, having revealed he waited an hour for the blue sky to appear over the mill to create the perfect shot. In third was Davee Hughes with a picture postcard view of Belper taken from Chevin.
The winners were announced at a presentation even staged at sponsors Specsavers in King Street on Thursday, January 27. First and second places won the latest digital Olympus and Sony cameras respectively , third landed a £125 voucher to spend in the opticians and all of the other seven finalists received £25 vouchers.
The competition has been hugely popular with more than 180 entries and it is hoped to stage it again, said Specsavers director Andy McBride.
