Majority of Duffield fire calls are false

More than half of the 999 calls attended by firefighters in Duffield last month proved to be false alarms.

In May the village’s fire engine attended 15 emergencies - of which nine turned out to be non-emergencies.

Last week it was revealed that 11 out of 22 emergencies attended by Belper firefighters were false alarms. Government figures estimate that the cost of false alarms in the UK is around £1 billion a year.
