A 43-year-old man has suffered serious facial injuries after an assault outside a Belper pub.

Police are appealing for information about the incident which happened in the Greyhound Inn pub, in Whitemoor Lane.

The 43-year-old victim told police that he was in the pub with friends when he was approached by a man who verbally abused him, and then punched him in the face a number of times.

The incident happened sometime between 5pm and 5.30pm on Saturday, May 26.
