Mill exhibits town’s science highlights

Belper’s contribution to science and industry in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries is the subject of a new exhibition at Strutts North Mill.

Using Heritage Lottery funding, bosses at the landmark have acquired artefacts including a celestial atlas drawn by the Denby-born Astronomer Royal, John Flamsteed, scientific instruments by Derby clockmakers, a quirky egg-timer designed by John Whitehurst and beautiful Derbyshire landscapes.

The exhibition opens on Saturday, April 20, and runs until Sunday, June 2, during opening hours.
