Derby Mountain Rescue Team are planning to move out of their headquarters in Duffield.

The team wants to build in Mackworth and have put plans in to Amber Valley Borough Council. Kevin Corcoran said the team has been looking for a new base for years and struggled to find a good location: “It needs to be within easy access of the places we have the most calls to – the Matlock Bath and Dovedale area,” he said.

“We are expanding each year and our current home is in a lock-up in Duffield, where there’s only space to store our vehicles and equipment.”

“We need to have a place where we can hold training sessions for staff and we just can’t do it at the moment.”

The application is due to be decided by the planning board on September 24.
