Mid-Derbyshire MP Pauline Latham has welcomed the news that unemployment in the region has fallen.
The number of unemployed people in the area fell by 34 between April and May and is 161 lower than in May 2014.
The number of unemployed in Mid-Derbyshire is in the lowest 10% of the country.
The trend matches the pattern across Derbyshire where unemployment fell by over 6% last month, the lowest figure since records began in 1983.
Nationally, unemployment stands at 5.5% with 400,000 more people in work compared to a year ago.
The vast majority of that rise in employment has been in full-time work.
Pauline Latham said: “I am very happy to see unemployment continue to fall in Mid-Derbyshire and think it is proof that the Government’s economic policies are working.
“Mid-Derbyshire has one of the lowest unemployment rates in the country and I hope the trend continues.”
