A GIRLS’ football club from Allestree has been awarded a grant of £5,000.
Woodlands FC will use the cash from the Football Foundation to build new teams and recruit new players for the future.
The club is focused on supporting the younger players in their charge, and they say the grant will allow the club to progress as a whole, now and in the future.
Pauline Latham, the MP for Mid-Derbyshire, which includes Allestree, welcomed news of the grant.
She said: “I am absolutely thrilled that Woodlands FC have been awarded this grant, which will do so much to develop the club.
“Woodlands FC is an excellent club, and they can now further their talent. It is so important to encourage youth engagement in sport and healthy lifestyles.
“This grant does just that!
“I send my congratulations to all the players at Woodlands, to the chairman Mike Rose, and to all those who made this wonderful grant possible.”
