MP Pauline Latham has welcomed plans to reinstate the No.11 bus service run from Stanley and West Hallam to Derby City Centre.

The service was cancelled in December after Notts and Derby buses deemed that it was no longer profitable.

After being contacted by a number of her constituents living in the West Hallam area, Mrs Latham wrote to Notts and Derby requesting that they meet with her. Owing to their lack of response, she sent representations to the bus firm again in April.

It has been reported that the Sunday service will resume from June 29, the evening service starting a day later. Under Derbyshire County Council’s plans, the route will continue to be funded for another year, at which point a decision will be made on its continuance, based on the demand for the service and its financial viability.

Mrs Latham, MP for Mid-Derbyshire said: “I am delighted to hear that the No. 11 route will resume in June, as it provides a vital service for my constituents in West Hallam. Of course, if I am still in Parliament after the general election, I will do my utmost to support the continuance of the service. I hope that those constituents who wrote to me about this will use the service or they are likely to lose it next year.”
