MPs event to help charities apply for extra funding

Belper MP Pauline Latham is hosting a special event for voluntary organisations and charities looking to make funding applications.

The politician is hosting the ‘Funding Fair’ on Friday, June 27, at the Holy Family Catholic Church on Blenheim Drive in Allestree.

The day will begin with a series of short presentations from Community Action Derby, Derbyshire Community Foundation, Lloyds Bank Foundation and The Big Lottery.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to ask representatives from Derbyshire Sport, Heritage Lottery Fund, Charity Bank, European Funding Opportunities, Neighbourhood Boards (for Spondon, Oakwood and Allestree) and a number of other organisations questions and advice on how to apply and the types of funding and the range of services available to charitable organisations.

Mrs Latham, MP for Mid-Derbyshire, said: “There are a number of great charitable initiatives in Mid Derbyshire, and I am keen to offer them all the support that they need to thrive and continue their fantastic work.”

The total income of registered charities in England and Wales increased by more than £3bn in the past year, Charity Commission figures show. Up to the end of March income was £62.8bn, compared with £59.7bn the previous year.
