A family-run department store is expanding its business by opening a brand new shop in the heart of Belper.
After over 100 years of trading from its original site in Ripley, Clarkes is to move into freshly refurbished premises on Belper’s King Street, formerly occupied by Derbyshire Building Society.
“We are very excited to be coming to Belper,” said David Clarke, who will be running the new venture with his wife Jodi.
“We have been thinking about expanding for some time, and the town has a real buzz about it. We are looking forward to being part of that community.”
The new Clarkes will be fashion-based, with a large ground floor showcasing a range of new and exciting brands. Upstairs will be dedicated to homewares, including a well-stocked cook shop, select giftware, and quality bedding and towels.
“We are very busy behind the scenes,” said David. “When we open in August I think we will have a bright, modern store to be proud of – which will be good for us, and hopefully good for Belper.”
