NHS Trust call for Governors

Derbyshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is inviting members in Amber Valley South to stand for election as Governor.

The Trust is looking for “enthusiastic and committed people from each constituency, who wish to contribute to our success as a Foundation Trust and help to shape the future of healthcare provision in Derbyshire.”

Governors have the opportunity to represent the views of their constituents and shape the way services are delivered, hold the Board to account for the Trust’s performance, attend events throughout the year and fulfil statutory responsibilities such as the appointment of Non-Executive Directors and the Trust Chairman.

Christine Williamson, Governor for Derby City West, said: ‘Being a Governor is a very exciting and fruitful experience, you get to discuss events and ways to engage with the community.’

Please note that to be eligible to stand as a Governor in these elections you must be a member of the Foundation Trust, however it’s not too late – if you’re not a member you can join up before 17 October to become eligible.

If you would like to learn more about this exciting opportunity and what it entails, please contact the Communications team on 01332 623700 ext 31218.

Alan Baines, Trust Chairman, said: “Our Council of Governors have been invaluable over our first 18 months as a Foundation Trust. Their enthusiasm and commitment has been refreshing and I have very much enjoyed getting to know each member and watching them grow into their roles.

As we are now looking for three new Governors, I would encourage anyone with an interest in healthcare provision, living in the three areas involved in this round of elections, to give serious consideration to this excellent opportunity to help to shape the future of our organisation.”
