Staff at North Mill are gearing up to join Belper Art Trail next month. The atmospheric basement of the Grade One listed building is the location for artist Tim Shore’s work.

The landmark is joined by Beaurepaire Gardens and Lavender Grey to show artists’ work at the northern end of the town.

Mill managerSarah Skinner, said: “The Strutt Mill complex harnessed the power of the River Derwent to produce cotton thread that wound its way across the world so Tim Shore’s work is really appropriate here, referencing as it does weaving, workforce and mechanisation as well as commenting on the austere times we live in today.”

A preview event at the mill is on Sunday, July 7 between 1 and 3pm. Visit www.corridorarts.org.uk for more. Pictured: Sarah Skinner,Ruth Litton and Andrew Martyn Sugars from Belper Arts Trail.
