ORGANISERS of a Bible exhibition in Belper were left a little disappointed after only a handful of visitors turned up.
The Central Methodist Church in the town hosted the event, which saw Bibles from as far back as early Victorian times on show.
The event was split into sections. There were older Bibles, children’s Bibles and modern ones.
There was also a time-line of how Bibles have developed up to the modern day, as well as versions in electronic form.
A woman in her 90s had donated an ivory Bible that was given to her by her husband in 1943 to celebrate six months of marriage.
Church steward Doreen Scotney said of the event: “It was a little bit disappointing.
“We thought there would have been a little more interest in the event.
“We had some very interesting Bibles on show as well, right from an early printed Latin version to modern electronic Bibles.”
