A fundraising garden party held in Heage has made more than £4,000.
The event was well attended, with the beautiful sunshine helping. It raised £4,500 for Action Medical Research.
It is the 27 th year the event has been held. The first one was organised by the Fardoe family and raised £150. Since then the event has grown considerably with all sorts of entertainments and activities. This year, Paddington Bear, with the help of Dave and Angie, from the Black Boy in Heage, presented a cheque for £6,000 to the area organiser of Action Medical Research, Val Hogg. That was the sum that was raised by the committee last year –a tremendous achievement.
It would not be possible without the support of many local businesses as well as the helpers.
