Pair nominated for honours at national awards night

Two Belper care home workers reached the national finals of a prestigious industry awards night.

Jim Watt from Milford Care Home and Lizzie Prince from Spencer Grove Care Home in Belper attended a glitzy cermony in London after being nominated for the Great British Care Awards.

The pair travelled down to the Grosvenor House Hotel, on Park Lane and enjoyed a champagne reception and gourmet dinner followed by an awards presentation with celebrity host Jane McDonald.

Mr Watt, who previously won the regional Care Home Worker award in 2011 and was a national finalist in 2012 was a finalist in the Frontline Leaders category this year, while Ms Prince was nominated for the Care Newcomer Award.

The awards, which are supported by the Department of Health, featured a total of fifteen categories in the finals, representing all areas of the care home sector.

Milford Care have previously seen great success at the event with a total of six national finalists, six regional winners and 18 regional finalists since 2010.

The firm was also a regional finalist in the Care Employer Award category in 2013, and senior manager, Julia Davies won the Outstanding Contribution to Social Care Award in 2011.
