Hide AdDr Carlini, who lives in Wellington, has now contacted the Derbyshire Times in a bid to try and find out more about the soldier in the photograph.
He said: “I presume he is a World War One soldier; the hat badge indicates the Royal Medical Corps, I think.
“On the mounting, there is a brand of the Chesterfield Studios in Burlington Street, Chesterfield. I am going to make the assumption that he is from the Derbyshire area but I have found out Chesterfield was a centre where forces from the Midlands gathered.
“I wasn’t happy that he should sit unloved in a shop so we now have his image hanging on a wall in our home – but I would dearly like to find his identity.

“It is a very remote chance that we will find something about him but we shall try.”
Anyone who may be able to help Dr Carlini learn more about the soldier should email him via [email protected].
