Beat the Street – which encouraged people to get outside and walk or cycle more – launched in the town last month and was due to conclude next month.
Councillor Jill Mannion-Brunt, Chesterfield Borough Council’s cabinet member for health and wellbeing, said: “We have seen lots of people get more active thanks to the Beat the Street so we’re sad to see this end, however, we must encourage people to stay at home to stop the virus spreading.
“We’d still love to know what you thought of the game.

A spokesperson for Beat the Street added: “Points are now being counted and the winners of the game will be announced in the next few days on the Beat the Street Chesterfield Facebook page and on Twitter and Instagram at @chesterfieldbts plus via the Beat the Street newsletter.
“Unfortunately, the planned celebratory event is unable to take place but all winning teams will receive their prizes by post and email.”
The spokesperson added: “Beat the Street has been designed to encourage people to be active, so organisers will continue to help with a new programme called Beat the Bug, packed with hints, tips and advice on how you and your family can stay fit.
