MP thanks heroes in north east Derbyshire for top efforts during pandemic

MP Lee Rowley has been receiving nominations for his ‘North East Derbyshire Heroes’ scheme, which aims to recognise some of the people in the area who have gone above and beyond in recent months.

Lee said: “In April I asked the residents of North East Derbyshire to nominate members of their community who had gone the extra mile during the hugely difficult and challenging times we have all gone through since the spring.

"I received a huge number of nominations and I have written to many of these to offer my personal thanks.

“I’ve heard about the selfless exploits of carers, NHS staff and pharmacists.

"I’ve also received nominations for people have volunteered their time to deliver essential supplies and medicine to the vulnerable, and even some who have been volunteering on the front lines in hospitals.

"Nominations have also come in for some of those working in essential retailers who have stayed open and gone the extra mile to ensure their communities have been able get what they need during this difficult time.

“Thank you to everyone who has gone the extra mile during this exceptional time, and congratulations to all those who were nominated to receive an award.”

Some of those nominated were the team at Killamarsh Pharmacy, who residents praised for going above and beyond to support residents in Killamarsh throughout the pandemic.

Residents highlighted the prompt delivery service offered by the pharmacy for those who could not leave their homes, as well as the warmth and kindness shown by the team.

Amit, of Killamarsh Pharmacy, said: "It was great to be recognised and nominated for a ‘North East Derbyshire Heroes Award’.

"The whole team at Killamarsh Pharmacy has been working exceptionally hard during this crisis and everybody at Killamarsh Pharmacy really appreciates that the local community have recognised and nominated us."
