Nine felines at Chesterfield’s RSPCA animal care centre are looking for fur-ever homes.
Some have been rescued from terrible conditions where they have had little or no human contact and need a caring new owner who can build their trust and make them feel safe.
Steph McCawley, supporter engagement officer, said: 'We are currently prioritising cats that are coming directly from the RSPCA inspectors who are attending welfare cases which is where many of our cats are coming from at the moment.
"Some are from multi-cat households where the owner has had no choice but to give up some of their cats due to varied reasons. Some are also stray cats who have been reported in the north Derbyshire area and because they have not been microchipped we are unable to locate their owner to reunite them. “We ask that if anyone is thinking of rehoming their cat to give us a call and we will do our very best to help and possibly add them to our waiting list, however we are not able to guarantee how quick we will be able to help due to the high demand we are currently receiving.”
1. Poppy
Poppy is a one year old female who was found as a stray, hungry and lost. Despite their best efforts workers at the Chesterfield Animal Centre were unable to find her previous owner as Poppy was not microchipped. An extremely friendly cat who adores cuddles, Poppy will confidently jump into your arms on the first meet. She will happily live with other pets as well as children of all ages. 2. Dolly
Two-year-old Dolly was removed from her previous home due to a welfare concern. It appears that she has not had a lot of human contact which means, at the moment, she hides away most of the day. However there has been evidence that when the animal centre is quiet, she has been playing with her toys and seems more relaxed. A new owner, preferably in a quiet adult-only home, would need to give Dolly a lot of time and patience. Photo: Chesterfield & North Derbyshire RSPCA
3. Ivy
Ivy came from the same home as Dolly however they are not looking to be rehomed together. In her short two years she has not had much life experiences so anything new to her is terrifying. Her new home would need to be quiet and patient with her. Photo: Chesterfield & North Derbyshire RSPCA
4. Penny
Penny also came from the same home as Ivy and Dolly. The two-year-old is finding her time in the cattery very stressful and a quiet, adult-only home with a new owner who can devote the time and care to building up her trust is where she belongs. Photo: Chesterfield & North Derbyshire RSPCA
