Operator is appointed for Belper River Gardens' new-look tearooms
An operator has been appointed for a new-look cafe which will open in Belper’s River Gardens this spring.
The opportunity to run the Swiss Tearooms generated great interest, resulting in an exhaustive selection process by Amber Valley Borough Council.
Deep Beat Entertainment, which operates high-quality cafes under its Park Life brand, has been awarded the contract.
Louis Dixon of Deep Beat Entertainment, said: "We are delighted to have been appointed as the operator and we are so excited about the launch of Park Life Café at The Swiss Tearooms.
"Our locally-inspired and quality-focused menu will offer something for every visitor to the gardens. That could be a relaxed bite to eat whilst taking in the beautiful surroundings, a barista-crafted coffee enjoyed with a sweet treat from our local bakery supplier, or a fresh and convenient takeaway meal served in compostable and recyclable takeaway packaging. We are looking forward to working with the friends and other community organisations to bring back the much-loved Swiss Tearooms."
Deep Beat Entertainment’s roots began at a café in Macclesfield where they turned a vacant building into a bustling community hub. The company has opened 11 cafés since then.
Councillor Ben Bellamy, the borough council’s portfolio holder for regeneration, said: "The appointment of Deep Beat is an exciting step, marking the start of the countdown to the opening of the Swiss Tearooms in better times next year. This will be a real enhancement to the River Gardens and an offering eagerly awaited by locals and visitors alike."
