A THEATRE group that is celebrating its 75th year is having a break from tradition — by performing only its second-ever pantomime.
The Lord of the Philosopher’s Goblet will be performed by the Belper Players at the Strutts Centre, on Derby Road in the town, from December 14 to 17.
Written by local writer Philip Royle, it will take the audience on an enjoyable romp through Pantoland – meeting favourites such as Aladdin and Cinderella along the way — and features Gary Potter, the brother of a famous boy wizard.
“Only once in its history has Belper Players ever performed a pantomime,” said director Keith Whitaker. “So this really is relatively new ground for us.
“What better way is there to get in the Christmas mood by coming to a fun show that can be enjoyed by all the family?”
Tickets cost £6, or £5 for under-16s, and are available from Joyce Towle on 01335 370827.
