A FORMER Royal Navy man from Little Eaton will be cremated in his submariners’ blazer, after it was recovered in time for his funeral.
The family of Peter Flower were left distraught when his submariner association jacket was stolen from the car of his granddaughter, Samantha Goodwin.
However, following an appeal it was found in a heap near to where it was taken in Outram Way, Stenson Fields.
The find means Mr Flower, 82, a former branch secretary of the East Midlands Submariners Old Comrades’ Association will be laid to rest in the precious item of clothing on May 28.
A former Rolls-Royce worker, Mr Flower left the Royal Navy in 1955 and then worked as an engineer.
