A 16-YEAR-old boy from Belper has been named recycling royalty - and has won some eco-goods.
Daniel Freeman came top of the pile in the Derbyshire County Council competition and was presented with an eco-kettle, recycled glasses, a battery charger and a Love Food Hate Waste goody bag.
His recycling habits include not putting rubbish in general bins but instead taking it home to recycle, composting vegetable peelings and garden clippings, and washing and squashing all recyclable items at home.
Cllr John Allsop said: “Daniel sets a great example to everyone with his dedication to recycling. He is a worthy winner.”
The search was launched in June. People were asked to nominate their king or queen of recycling. Entrants included a mum who organised an eco-day and siblings who hunted rubbish to be recycled instead of a usual Easter Egg hunt.
