The group leading a campaign to build a modern tea room in Belper River Gardens has issued a new call for sponsors to help boost the project.
The latest figures released by Belper Community Enterprises CIC Ltd have revealed that the project still has a long way to go in terms of fundraising.
The estimated administration costs of the project are in the region of £20,000, of which £13,500 has been generated to cover things as planning fees, architects’ drawings and legal advice.
The capital costs are approaching £460,000, of which £100,000 has been secured from Belper Town Council, and a further £100,000 promised from another source.
Company director Les Dorey said: “We are in the process of looking at two major grant options but this will take some time to process and there is no certainty that we will be successful.
“Therefore if there is any major sponsor among the many businesses or somebody who has available funds and is interested in helping us achieve our aim please contact me on 07773 399913.”
He added: “Any help will be very much appreciated, it does not have to be cash, but help with materials or expertise would be equally appreciated.
“We are in the process of arranging an auction. The date and location has yet to be arranged but we have already started collecting donated items for sale.”
As well as the community interest company, the project is being supported by the Friends of Belper River Gardens or Belper Tea Rooms Association, and both groups are open to new members.
