HORSLEY Woodhouse Primary School pupils have taken off their shoes and got messy as they puddled clay for this year‘s village well dressing.
The youngsters started the first stage of decorating the traditional well by squeezing all the air out of the clay used in the final design – using their hands and feet.
This year the well will have a royal wedding theme, in recognition of the nuptials of Prince William and Kate Middleton.
All the pupils at the Main Street school took part in the puddling, despite heavy rain making the activity even more messy.
The well dressing ceremony will take place at the old well off Main Street in the village in about a month’s time.
Teaching assistant Alison Nunn said: “They really enjoyed getting messy. There was lots of squelching clay between toes in the torrential rain!”
