BUILDING sites in Belper are being inspected as part of a month-long drive to improve standards in one of the country’s most dangerous industries.
Inspectors from the Health and Safety Executive will also be visiting sites across Derbyshire where refurbishment or repair works are being carried out.
During 2010/11, nearly 40 serious injuries occurred on construction sites across the county. There were three deaths and 188 serious injuries across the East Midlands.
Principal Inspector for Construction Nic Rigby said: “The refurbishment sector continues to be the most risky for construction workers.”
