A Belper schoolgirl has launched a fundraising campaign to pay for a charitable trip to India.
Skye Kirk and 30 of her pals at Belper School have the opportunity to go on an expedition in India where they will help a village build greenhouses and then trek in the Himalayas.
Between now and the end of July, 2014, when they leave, the youngsters must each raise £3,200 for the four-week journey of a lifetime.
Skye, of Beresford Place, in Bullbridge, hit upon the idea of raising cash with two stalls which she will man at a Christmas fair this Saturday. The fair runs from from 10am to 4pm and will feature refreshments, homemade crafts and cakes, nail art, face painting, jewellery, sweet trees, toys and accessories, with the help of family and friends at The Masonic Hall, on Campbell Street, Belper. Skye, 15, said: “The Masonic Hall have kindly offered me the room at a reduce priced. This is my second fair here and we are also planning one for Valentine’s Day and an Easter one too.”
