PANIC-BUYERS caused an Allestree Post Office to run out of stamps as it prepared for a big hike in prices.
During the past two weeks the Park Farm Post Office, off Park Farm Drive, has run out of first and second class stamps as people raced to buy them before Monday’s price rise.
The cost of a first class stamp has risen from 46p to 60p. Second class stamps have also increased from 36p to 50p.
A Royal Mail spokesman said: “There is currently no stamp shortage. There is adequate stock available for any branch that has seen an increase in demand.”
