Metal thieves stole a sundial from a plinth in a Morley churchyard, where it had stood for 250 years.

The dial had been made by clockmaker and scientist John Whitehurst and had been in the grounds of St Matthew’s Church, in Church Lane, Morley.

The instrument, which was made from bronze, was reported stolen on Sunday, February 23. Anyone with information should phone 101.
