EXCITED children from a Belper school came face-to-face with a model of a supercar that makers hope will smash the world land speed record by breaking the 1,000mph barrier.
Youngsters from St Elizabeth’s Primary joined local dignitaries and customers at Umeco Composites in Heanor for the event and to take a look at the Bloodhound SSC (SuperSonic).
The children got involved by testing and demonstrating their skills by driving the Bloodhound SSC car simulator, and then building and racing a self-propelled model of the car. Exhibits included a full-scale model of the Bloodhound SSC.
Stephen Milner, from the firm, said: “Visitors thoroughly enjoyed the event.”
