Tell Us Once service launched in Belper

RESIDENTS of Belper will now only have to provide details about a birth or death once — instead of having to repeat the same information to every council and government service.

Amber Valley Borough Council has joined authorities across Derbyshire in teaming up with the Department of Work and Pensions to launch the county’s new ‘Tell Us Once’ service.

The registrar will collect all the details needed to inform relevant agencies on the family’s behalf so they don’t have to contact each organisation individually themselves.

Cllr Carol Hart, of Derbyshire County Council, said: “Dealing with a birth or death is one of the most important things a family has to face and, particularly when a loved one dies, the last thing relatives want to do is make dozens of phone calls to update their records.”
