A new police officer is out on patrol in the Kilburn, Denby and Holbrook areas.
PC Gareth Cole has become the latest member of the Kilburn Safer Neighbourhood Team.
He joins PCSO John Midgley in targeting the priorities and issues that matter to the local communities of Kilburn, Denby, Holbrook, Milford, Makeney and the Parks Estate.
PC Cole joined Derbyshire Constabulary in 2014 and has worked as a response officer in the Amber Valley area. He was also a Police Community Support Officer for Wiltshire Police for more than two years.
Before he began his career in policing, PC Cole, who is 30 years old, was a lifeguard and has also worked for the fire service in a role which helped educate children and young people about the dangers of fire and how to stay safe in the event of a fire.
Since moving to Derbyshire, Gareth, a keen West Ham supporter, has been enjoying the local countryside and taken on a new hobby of hiking in the Peak District.
PC Cole said: “I’ve been on the Kilburn Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team now for just over a week, so I am still learning about the area and the local community.
“I’m looking forward to meeting local residents and community members, finding out about their concerns and looking at the ways we can help.”
He added: “It will be nice to be part of the community, take part in regular patrols and work with partner agencies on longer term solutions to issues.
“Along with my experience in community policing, I also hope the skills I have in working with young people will help me engage with youngsters in our area.”
After three years on the team, PC Neil Hopwell has now moved on to cover Ripley.
