Belper is one of the UK’s hotspots for people looking for an affair, according to the owners of a dating website for married people.

The UK’s largest married dating site said they have 472 members in the town. That means around 2.2 per cent of people in the town are married folk searching for extra-marital affairs on the site, it claims.

Owners of the site revealed the statistic as part of a web application for people to search and discover how many
people are looking for an affair on their website.

A spokesman said Maidenhead had claimed the title of the most illicit town in Britain with just over two per cent of the population cheating, with Bournemouth being declared most faithful.

Belper came in above neighbouring Ripley where 204 people are members of the website – less than half of Belper’s total.

Heanor also had a much lower number of people prepared to cheat - with 204 signing up for extra-marital affairs.

However, Alfreton topped the figures for Amber Valley, with 707 people looking for no strings attached love outside of wedlock on the site.

In Matlock there are 304 members of the website.

Spokesperson for, Mike
Taylor said: “It is fascinating to see the breakdown of how many people are looking for affairs in your local area, who wouldn’t want to see if they live in a hotspot?

“We have already had thousands of people visiting the website looking to see where their home town ranks
compared with their friends.”

The “interactive
infidelity index”
allows people to search a town or postcode and
discover how many people in thier areas are registered on the website, said spokesman Mr Taylor.
