A610 at Langley Mill reopens after accident

A ‘serious collision’ closed part of the A610 in Langley Mill near the Aldercar junction for four hours on Saturday afternoon.

The collision occurred at 1.15pm at the junction of the A610 with Cromford Road and involved three vehicles.

It happened when a silver BMW one series, turning right out of Cromford Road, was in collision with a silver Izuzu travelling from the direction of Ilkeston.

This in turn caused the silver BMW to collide with a black BMW three series travelling from the direction of Ripley.

The elderly driver of the silver BMW was airlifted to the Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham where he was found to have broken both his arm and his leg in the crash.

The driver of the Izuzu vehicle was also taken to the Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham and was said to have minor injuries.

Both have now been released from hospital.

The driver of the black BMW was unharmed.

At 5.15pm police said they had reopened the road after completing their investigations.

Any witnesses should call police on 101 quoting reference 403 for July 11.
