More than 300 people turned up to see Countryfile presenter, Adam Henson, open the new Farm Shop at the Denby Pottery Village.

Adam who has been a regular face on screens since 2001 threw a pot, bought a pork pie and pottery after signing copies of his new book.

In his opening speech he told crowds of his love of pottery and had he not been a farmer he would of been a potter.

Linda Salt public relations manager for Denby said: “Adam said as this combines both of his loves,he should have come here sooner but plans to return.”

He said: “I believe that Britain produces the best food in the world and farm shops offer everyone the opportunity to enjoy great quality produce whilst supporting British farmers and producers.

“I have a strong affection for Derbyshire and I have fond memories of the county having completed a year’s work experience at the Chatsworth Estate. As a child I loved pottery and even considered potting as a career so it’s quite special to me to be opening the Denby Pottery Village Farm Shop”.

Linda said although the sun never made an appearance on Friday, April 1 the rain did hold off.

She added: “He was very approachable and just like he is on Countryfile and he made time to chat with people.”
