The 37th annual village carnival drew hundreds of people into Horsley Woodhouse on Saturday, July 20.
A procession got the event underway - making its way through the village to the Sitwell Recreation Ground - and led by royalty in the shape of carnival queen Holly Harvey.
Heage Brass Band then trumpeted the start of festivities with the carnival being formally opened by Eric Lancashire MBE, to thank him for organising the carnival over many years. Attractions included a Fun Dog Show and Derby County FC mascot Rammie taking part in a penalty shootout. Among the other traditional activities were a craft tent, pony rides, children’s games, marching bands and a tug of war.
